Could YOU make a difference? If you are a young person aged 13 to 18 and motivated to become a part of this global peacemaking network, here is how you can get involved in PeaceJam UK.
Step 1: Find an adult sponsor. A PeaceJam youth club or school group must have an adult sponsor. This person can be a parent, teacher, youth worker or any adult sponsor. This person can be a parent, teacher, or any adult willing to work with your PeaceJam youth group. Once you have found an adult sponsor, please have them contact the PeaceJam UK office to find out when the next PeaceJam training will be held, or when a PeaceJam mentor could come and visit your school, youth or club.
(Note: PeaceJam youth clubs do not have to be formed in schools alone. Young people within youth club settings, faith-based groups, scout and guide troupes, and community organisations are encouraged to participate in PeaceJam.)

Step 2: Hold regular meetings to study the PeaceJam curriculum. Over the course of a year, PeaceJam youth club members will learn about a particular Nobel Peace Laureate, their life and work, and historical and cultural background. Your club is expected to spend about 36 hours in the study of the PeaceJam curriculum over one school year.

Step 3: Create a Peace Plan. The Peace Plan is what your PeaceJam club will do to help your own community by organising some kinds of service/action projects. This can be a large one-time project, or small projects done throughout the year. Brainstorm ideas and plan out your activities. Before your group attends the March PeaceJam Conference, you must put your Peace Plan together on three sheets of A1 card board to be displayed throughout the conference and used in your presentation to the Nobel Laureate.
Step 4. Raise money to send delegates from your club to meet a Nobel Peace Laureate. Each club is responsible for raising funds to send as many members from their group to the annual conference as allowed. Help the group select students to attend the conference. We recommend also selecting substitutes in case someone is not able to attend.
Note: The fee for attending the March conference with a Nobel Peace Prize Winner is £40 per youth participant. All teachers and youth workers attend the Youth Weekend free of charge. The fee for the regional Slam event in November is £5.00 per youth participant. Want to know what you get for that £40? Click here
Step 5: Prepare questions for the Nobel Peace Laureate: at the PeaceJam Conference, each PeaceJam club will be given an opportunity to ask questions to the Nobel Laureate. The club should brainstorm questions and bring its three most important questions to the conference.
Step 6: Spread the word: Find ways to involve as many young people as possible in the PeaceJam program beyond those who will represent your class/school at the conference.
